Gary Sakuma can be found on Youtube as the Hawaii Tennis Pro. A certified United States Professional Tennis Association of America, Professional One, he has created 1000’s of instructional clips for tennis and written four Ebooks—How to Play Tennis Singles, How to Play Tennis Doubles, The Book of Drills, and How to Serve and Volley.
Program Supervisor at Punahou Schools in Honolulu, Hawaii, he coordinated the Top Gun Junior Program, High Performance, Intermediate, Junior Varsity, and Varsity programs—Girls State Champions 2001-2005. A science teacher by trade, his techniques derived from Peter Burwash International using progressions and pattern recognition to develop tactical play. Coach for Boys’ 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 #1 player, Kevin Caufield and many players that went on to play for William and Mary, Wellesley, UC Irvine, Georgetown, and University of Florida, he focuses on a Holistic approach—developing the player—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
While in Asia, Coach Gary has worked clinics at Tennis Academy of Asia, Bangkok Patana School, International School of Bangkok, Prem International School in Chiangmai, Assumption College, Le Smash Club, British Club, and Saithip Tennis Courts. As a player, Coach Gary has represented Hawaii in eleven National events from Mixed Doubles to Mens playing for the NTRP 4.5, 5.0, and combined 9.0 levels. He continues to develop his Simple Tennis method. His highest ITF ranking 276, he continues to play competitively and recreationally.
